Þat byriar oss at skilia oc i minning at hallda, at varr drottinn oc lausnari, sa er allan heiminn vissi tapaðan fyrir synð hinna fyrstu manna, let ser soma sakir sinnar omælldrar miskunnsemðar at tendra i heimi þessum marga liosa lampa til þess at leiða allt mannkyn, þat er tapaz hafði fyrir flærð hins forna fianda, til ens sanna lioss, oc voru fyrstir af þeim helgir hofuðfeðr oc spamenn. A meðal þeira skein hinn sæli Johannes sva sem solin, er biartari skinn å himnum enn onnur himintungl, þviat hann var pryddr með hærum guðs giofum her a iarðriki.
